Animating Product Videos with AI: A Playful Approach

Explore unconventional product video techniques with AI. From ‘Poke It’ animations to ‘Inflate It’ effects, learn how to make your visuals stand out!

Exploring AI-Generated Product Videos

Hello, this is Jey from DaaleelaB by NaaveelaB. In a previous newsletter, I shared how I created a “talking” product video for my Amazon listing using AI tools. Today, I’d like to introduce another unconventional approach to product videos—one that involves playful animations created with AI.

If you’re interested in developing your own creative products or brand—or even if you simply make social media videos—you might find this useful. Since my product includes an art print, it naturally lends itself to this kind of video style. However, even if this isn’t the type of product video you originally envisioned, AI tools make it incredibly easy to create fun and engaging animations. Who knows? You might even come up with a more creative way to use these effects than I have.

Creating a “Poke It” Video in Three Simple Steps

While you could start by learning AI tools like MidJourney from the ground up, I personally prefer a more practical approach—completing small, focused tasks and picking up the necessary tools along the way. In this case, I’ll walk you through a quick task: creating a “Poke It” video. Unlike the talking video I created last time, this process doesn’t even require generating an AI image first—just a product photo will do.

  1. Prepare a product image or any subject-focused photo.

  2. Open Pika.art, select the “Pikaffect” feature, choose “Poke It,” and click "+" to upload your image.

  3. Wait a moment, and your “Poke It” animation will be generated automatically.

Pikaffect is incredibly simple to use—just pick an effect, upload your image (as I did with the Imagine frame), and watch the transformation unfold (see the screenshot). There’s not much of a learning curve here, but one small tip: since the hand in the “Poke It” effect enters from the right, it’s best to use an image with a bit of empty space on that side. What I particularly like about Pikaffect, compared to some other AI video tools, is that it applies effects without distorting the original image.

More Effects to Play With

Personally, I find “Levitate It” and “Inflate It” even more appealing than “Poke It,” as they complement my artwork’s aesthetic beautifully. Of course, I’ll continue exploring AI effects that better suit product photos, but for now, I’ve added an Imagine frame video to my Amazon listing using the “Inflate It” effect. It may not be a conventional product video, but I believe my customers will appreciate something playful and unique.

I encourage you to experiment with different effects to find one that suits your products. After all, social media videos don’t always have to be hyper-realistic!

For the Balloon Girl video, I created the animated intro using Domai.app and then edited the rest in Kinemaster, combining the “Inflate It” effect with product images. Speaking of product videos—I’ll soon have the opportunity to film a proper Imagine frame video, thanks to a government-supported export program in Korea. I hope to share insights from that experience in a future newsletter, along with tips on creating high-quality Amazon product videos.

Bringing AI to Your Creative Process

I hope this guide helps you explore new ways to create videos, whether for your own products or simply for fun. Even if you don’t start experimenting right away, I hope you take away one key insight: this process is much easier than you might have imagined.

If there’s anything you’d like me to explain in more detail, feel free to leave a comment. In the meantime, I’ll be brainstorming the next topic for the upcoming newsletter—see you soon with more creative ideas!
